A discussion page is defined as any page where signed comments are expected and editors are expected to provide replies or responses to other editors comments. This template can be used to detect if page on which it is used is a discussion page on which discussion is currently taking place. Criteria for discussion pages are similar to Template:Is discussion page, but pages which consist only of archived discussions are excluded. This template will likely always be an imperfect detection method.
This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible. To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:
[[Category:Files for discussion templates]] to the <includeonly> section at the bottom of that page. Otherwise, add <noinclude>[[Category:Files for discussion templates]]</noinclude> to the end of the template code, making sure it starts on the same line as the code's last character.

If the discussion type is merger, use template {{}} instead.. If the discussion type would be rename (move), then normally TfD is not the correct process; use the WP:Requested moves process, by putting {{subst:Requested move|Template:NewNameHere|reason=Reason for move}} on the template's talk page.
