The North Fork White River is a 33.0-mile-long (53.1 km) [2] tributary of the White River. The river's source is Wall Lake in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area of Garfield County, Colorado . It joins with the South Fork White River in Rio Blanco County to form the White River.
The river rises in two forks in northwestern Colorado in northeastern Garfield County in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area in the White River National Forest. The North Fork rises in Wall Lake and flows northwest, then southwest. The South Fork rises ten miles south of the north, flows southwest, then northwest, past Spring Cave.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife division of the U.S. State of Colorado manages more than 300 state wildlife areas with a total area of more than 860 square miles (2,230 km 2 ) in the state.
