Apokoronas (Greek: Αποκόρωνας) is a municipality and a former province (επαρχία) in the Chania regional unit, north-west Crete, Greece. It is situated on the north coast of Crete, to the east of Chania itself. The seat of the municipality is the village Vryses. [2] The municipality has an area of 315.478 km 2 (121.807 sq mi). [3]
Neo Chorio is a village located 25km (15.5 miles) southeast of Chania in the center of Apokoronas. It was named Neo ("new") Chorio because it was a new village, but it was built on the ruins of an old village which was destroyed during the raids in Crete. Kryonerida (Greek: Κρυονερίδα) is a former municipality in the Chania regional unit, Crete, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Apokoronas, of which it is a municipal unit. [2] The municipal unit has an area of 67.561 km 2 (26.085 sq mi). [3]
