Diamond Head Lighthouse is a United States Coast Guard facility located on Diamond Head in Honolulu, on the island of Oʻahu in the State of Hawaiʻi. The lighthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. [1] The Diamond Head Lighthouse was featured on a United States postage stamp in June 2007. [2]

Diamond Head is a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu.It is known to Hawaiians as Lēʻahi (pronounced [leːˈʔɐhi]), which is most likely derived from lae (browridge, promontory) plus ʻahi (tuna) because the shape of the ridgeline resembles the shape of a tuna's dorsal fin. Diamond Head Lighthouse stands on the southern cliffs of Oahu. The site was developed in the 1870s to monitor incoming vessels, and the lighthouse was added in 1899.
