An Afghan rug (or Afghan carpet [1]) is a type of handwoven floor-covering textile traditionally made in the northern and western areas of Afghanistan, [2] [3] mainly by Afghan Turkmens and Uzbeks. [1] [4] The industry is being expanded to all 34 provinces of Afghanistan. [5] Afghan rugs have won a number of international awards.

Anatolian rug or Turkish carpet (Turkish: Türk Halısı) [1] is a term of convenience, commonly used today to denote rugs and carpets woven in Anatolia and its adjacent regions.
Gabbeh carpets are much thicker and coarser than other Persian carpets; sometimes they can be as much as one inch or 2.5 cm in depth. In fact, they are more a variety of kilim than carpet. The word "gabbeh" comes from the Persian گبه, meaning raw, natural, uncut. This is a rough and primitive carpet. [2]
Rugs from the easternmost parts of the Karabagh area have cotton wefts and light blue cotton or wool selvedges. In some regions (Mokan, Talysh, Lenkoran) the rugs have runner formats, approximately three times as long as wide. Apart from manufacture rugs, Karabagh rugs have a high pile, up to 2 cm.
