The World Series of Rock was a recurring, day-long and usually multi-act summer rock concert held outdoors at Cleveland Municipal Stadium from 1974 through 1980. Belkin Productions staged these events, attracting popular hard rock bands and as many as 88,000 fans. WMMS sponsored the concerts.
The Phantasy Entertainment Complex was a staple in the Cleveland music scene since the early 1980s. [1] The Phantasy helped launch nationally recognized bands Anne E. DeChant, Devo, Exotic Birds, Filter, Lucky Pierre, the Adults, The Pagans, Stabbing Westward, and was the debut location for Nine Inch Nails.
The event was held at the West Bank Flats in Cudi’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. [2] The line-up for the festival included musicians such as Don Toliver, Playboi Carti, Haim, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Pusha T, Jaden and Chip tha Ripper, among others. [3] On June 2, 2023, Cudi announced he would return to Cleveland for the second annual festival.
In 2006, the festival was changed to a concert series, with multiple (smaller) concerts throughout the summer. 2006 (May 27, Verizon Wireless Music Center): Staind, Three Days Grace, Blue October, People in Planes, Hurt. 2006 (June 27, Chevrolet Amphitheater): Taking Back Sunday, Angels & Airwaves, Head Automatica, The Subways, and Punchline.
Cleveland will also be closing several exit ramps and roads on Friday. Al Lerner Way along with portions of Erieside Avenue will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.
