The 2nd Air Refueling Squadron, sometimes written as 2d Air Refueling Squadron, is a unit of the United States Air Force. It is part of the 305th Air Mobility Wing at McGuire Air Force Base , part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst , New Jersey.

The 2nd Day Bombardment Group was organized at Ourches Aerodrome, near Toul, France on 1 November 1918. The Group consisted of a Headquarters staff, and the 100th and 163rd Aero Squadrons. Previous to this date, the Aero Squadrons were assigned to the Second Army Air Service, after arriving at the front on 26 October. [1]
The unit was formed from the World War I 2d, 3d and 28th Aero Squadrons in 1919 (its emblem represents the three squadrons with Maltese crosses).The 2d Aero Squadron, having served in the Philippines beginning in 1915, was transferred back from Rockwell Field, California in 1920 after training duties in the United States during the war.
The group consisted of the 96th Aero Squadron, which had been operating independently and was equipped with French Breguet 14 B.2 bombers. Three other squadrons, the 11th , 20th and 166th Aero Squadrons were equipped with American-built de Havilland DH-4s .
