The Rhode Island State Police achieved its initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in 1994, and was reaccredited in 1999, 2002, 2005, 2008, and 2011. The Division achieved Flagship Status in 2005, 2008, and 2011 and received the Accreditation with Excellence Award in 2011, 2014, and 2017.
In July 1931, the State of Rhode Island opened Hillsgrove State Airport on 158 acres (0.64 km 2) in Warwick, the first state-owned and operated airfield in the United States. The terminal building opened in January 1933. For many years, it was occupied by an office of the U.S. Weather Service. [2]

The airport is owned by the State of Rhode Island and opened for service in 1951. It serves the northern portion of the Providence metropolitan area and is located 3 nmi (3.5 mi; 5.6 km) east of the central business district of Smithfield . [ 1 ]
On April 20, 2016, for the first time in approximately three decades, U.S. Customs and Immigration service became available at the Florida Keys Marathon International Airport. The inauguration of a new 4,200-sq-ft permanent Customs and Border Patrol facility located in the former commercial terminal.
In 2021, revised proposal H6051, [41] which would change the airport's name to "Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport", was passed by the Rhode Island House of Representatives on May 11. [42] The proposal was approved by the Rhode Island Senate the following month. [43] In June 2021, the airport's name was officially changed. [6]
