The Kern Center is a 210,000-square-foot (19,500 m 2) athletics and fitness facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is home to many sports at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, including ice hockey, wrestling, men's and women's basketball and volleyball. The building is named for Robert and Patricia Kern, the center's major benefactors.
The athletic field was built on top of an in-ground parking facility immediately north of the Kern Center. [15] In 2023, MSOE completed construction on a $2,935,000 stadium for Women's Softball. MSOE Raiders Field is a natural grass and dirt field with seating for 250 spectators.
The league was founded in 1998 with six teams: Benedictine University, the University of Findlay, Lawrence University, Marian University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and Northland College. After one year in the conference, Benedictine dropped hockey, and Findlay moved to the Division I College Hockey America conference.

Founding members Adrian College, Albion College, Carthage College, Fontbonne University, Milwaukee School of Engineering, College of Mount St. Joseph and Trine University ratified bylaws on June 2, 2009. [1] The NCAA recognition of the new conference went into effect September 1, 2009 and conference play began on February 13, 2010.

[12] The team was in first place in the league during the 2019–20 season and had clinched a playoff spot when the season was curtailed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
The conference was formed with nine charter members (Augustana College, Carthage College, Elmhurst College, Illinois College, Illinois Wesleyan University, Lake Forest College, Millikin University, North Central College and Wheaton College) on April 26, 1946, in Jacksonville, Illinois, and opened competition in the 1946–47 academic year as the College Conference of Illinois.
