When Hutton was sacked, he was replaced by Liam Gallagher, who suggested the band change their name to Oasis.Liam and Arthurs teamed up as co-songwriters. However, the band were still unsuccessful until Liam encouraged his brother Noel, who had just come back from travelling the world as a roadie for Inspiral Carpets, to join the band.

[2] In the 11 May 2013 edition of NME , the song was listed at number 57 in the magazine's "The 100 Greatest Britpop Songs" list, [ 13 ] and in 2019, it was ranked number 1 in a list of greatest Oasis songs by the same magazine. [ 14 ]
The song suddenly changes key during the bridge, before returning to the main chord progression of the song, which repeats for a two-and-a-half-minute outro in which, one by one, each instrument cuts out until only the strings are playing. Finally, the song ends with an extended, recorded applause track.

Oasis are an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals), Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums), with Liam asking his older brother Noel Gallagher (lead guitar, vocals) to join as a fifth member a few months later to finalise their formation.
