Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), was established by the government of Uttar Pradesh on 8 May 2000 (Act No. 1248 (2)XVII-V-I-I-19-2000 Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 23 of 2000).
IET Lucknow, started in November 1984, began with the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Lucknow University. Initially, it offered a B.Tech. degree in three branches - Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics. Within a year, two more branches - Civil and Mechanical - were introduced.
It is an affiliated college of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). [2] It is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education. [3] It was established in 1986 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to provide impetus to technical education in the state and was the fifth government engineering college in the state.

Galgotias College, officially the Galgotias Campus One, is an agglomeration of three private institutes in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India that are federated with Dr. A.P.J. The syllabus of the examination is based on topics covered by the Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh, Central Board of Secondary Education and Indian School Certificate board examinations, though all topics are not included in the syllabus. The pattern of questions in the exam is almost fixed.
