The Miami-Dade County Courthouse, formerly known as the Dade County Courthouse, is a historic courthouse and skyscraper located at 73 West Flagler Street in Miami, Florida. Constructed over four years (1925–28), it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on January 4, 1989. [3] The building is 361 feet tall with 28 floors.
Francis Xavier Suarez (/ s w ɑː ˈ r ɛ z / SWAH-rez; born October 6, 1977) is an American lawyer and politician who is the 43rd and current mayor of Miami since 2017. The son of former Miami mayor Xavier Suarez, he previously served on the Miami City Commission from 2009 to 2017.

Dade County was established in 1837 and was named for Major Francis Langhorne Dade, who was killed in the Dade Massacre by Seminole Indians in December 1835. [4] [5] The first settlers of Dade County won the land in the Georgia Land Lotteries, held to encourage settlement after the Cherokee people were forced off the land.
