Orange County Speedway is a 0.375 mi (0.604 km) asphalt oval in Orange County, North Carolina, near Rougemont. It first opened in 1966 as a 0.250 mi (0.402 km) and a 0.625 mi (1.006 km) dirt oval (Trico Speedway), which operated until 1967 and 1973, respectively. The facility was reopened and paved in 1983.
Occoneechee Speedway was one of the first two NASCAR tracks to open. It closed in 1968 and is the only dirt track remaining from the inaugural 1949 season. [2] It is located just outside the town of Hillsborough, North Carolina.
The 2003 season brought 6 wins in 13 starts at Orange County Speedway, as well as a 4th-place finish at Martinsville Speedway. In 2004, McCaskill won the LMSC Championship at Southern National Speedway, and had a 4th-place finish in the UARA STARS Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. In 2005, McCaskill returned to Bristol and nabbed a 2nd-place finish.
Barry Beggarly is an American race car driver who competed on the short-tracks of Virginia and North Carolina, mainly during the 1980s and 1990s. Beggarly always used number 82 on his cars. In a Golden Age of short track motor racing in his region, he is considered by many to be one of the best drivers of his era. [ 1 ]
