Retama Park is a class 1 pari-mutuel horse racetrack located in Selma, Texas, United States, that opened in 1995. Live quarter horse races meet July to September. Simulcast racing is shown year-round. The track is owned by the Retama Development Corporation (a quasi-governmental entity formed by the City of Selma) and managed by Penn Entertainment.
Harris is believed to have called more races in the history of Texas horse racing since Parimutuel betting was reinstated than any other race announcer in Texas history. It is estimated that Harris has called over 11,500 races during his combined 17-year career at Retama Park in San Antonio and Sam Houston Race Park in Houston.
He has previously called races at Golden Gate Fields, [2] and has also worked at Arlington Park, Fair Grounds, Turf Paradise, Lone Star Park, Retama Park, Del Mar, and the old Hollywood Park and Bay Meadows race tracks. [1] In 2019, Wrona would begin calling races at Kentucky Downs. [4]
The Retama Racing Park opened in 1995, and The Forum, a 110-shop outdoor mall, opened in 2000. The old Harrison and Brown stagecoach stop was restored and rechristened the Selma Stage Stop, along with a visitor center and park.
Class 1 horse tracks can be granted an unlimited number of racing days. [8] Up to three are allowed, in the state's three largest metropolitan areas. [8] They are: Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Retama Park in Selma, and Sam Houston Race Park in Houston. [9] Class 2 tracks can be granted a maximum of 60 racing days per year. [8]
The company agreed in April 2012 to buy a 75.5% stake in Retama Park, a money-losing horse track in Selma, Texas, for $22.8 million. The purchase was seen as a "defensive move" to help soften the blow if gaming in Texas were expanded and drew visitors away from Pinnacle's Lake Charles properties.

Corey James Lanerie (born November 13, 1974) is an American jockey who competes in American Thoroughbred horse racing. Based in Kentucky, he has won 19 jockey titles at Churchill Downs and has won meets at Ellis Park, Lone Star Park, Sam Houston and Retama Park. Lanerie was born in Lafayette, Louisiana.
