Ion Suruceanu was born in the village of Suruceni, Ialoveni District, of Moldova. He started his singing career in 1968 as a solo singer in the ensemble "Noroc" where he sang until 1970. Ion Voicu (Romanian: [iˈon ˈvojku]; October 8, 1923 – February 24, 1997) was a Romanian violinist and orchestral conductor of Romani ethnicity. In 1969 he founded the award-winning Bucharest Chamber Orchestra, which is now conducted by his son Mădălin Voicu .
