Actually you don't need flowing water in a pond for wild rice to grow. Typically what current does is to make sure that the surface of the water doesn't clutter up with duck weed and such. As long as the water is fairly clear so the sunlight can reach the growing rice plant, you will be fine.
Back to the original question about finding seed. There are companies that sell wild rice seed but that is a little spendy. Around the area where his cabin is there are a number of people that hand pick rice and proccessing plants that process that rice. I would check with them for seed.

You should get "fall" rice versus spring rice as it will be fresher and cheaper. Wild rice requires 12-36 inches of water depth with a mucky bottom. It does not require flowing water...that is a myth. Simply throw small handfuls into the air to broadcast the rice seed over the area you want to plant. It will self seed from there.
Kelly, looks like some of that seed you got me IS growing! Its not very thick because I was trying to cover alot of shoreline, but I can see some plants coming out of the water! Hopefully in future years it will thicken up!Thanks!

I thought you were a welder? Make a bear proof bird feeder! Get a 8' foot, 5" inch pipe. Bury 4 feet of it, fill the rest with cement, weld a cage within a cage out of rebar with a tray in the middle so the birds can fly in and feed! Setup the trail cam and watch the poor bastard try and get the seed! 🤣🤣
