The Sudirman Cup is an international badminton mixed team competition contested by member countries of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every two years since the inaugural tournament in 1989 .
In the Uber Cup competition, the women's team with the best results in 1975, 2004, 2008 and 2010 edition making it to the quarter-finals. Malaysia competed in the Sudirman Cup since 1989 with the best result in 2009 , 2021 and 2023 , placed third.
The Mexico women's team also achieved a podium position, finishing third place at the 2016 Pan Am Team Badminton Championships. The mixed team finished third twice in 1993 and 2009. The Mexico team also participates in the Pan American Games and has won four bronze medals in badminton at the Games.
Both teams later competed for the next few Games and finished in third place.
