The Adams Memorial Building, now also known as the Derry Opera House, is a historic municipal building at 29 West Broadway near the center of Derry, New Hampshire.Built in 1904, it is a remarkably sophisticated Colonial Revival structure for what was at the time a small community.
The area was first settled by Scots-Irish families in 1719 as part of the town of Londonderry, as were present-day Windham and portions of Manchester, Salem and Hudson.The town of Derry was formed in 1827 from the eastern portion of Londonderry and was named, like Londonderry, after the city of Derry in Ireland, [4] the Irish word Doire meaning "oak grove".

It is located on a hill close to the geographic center of the town of Derry along East Derry Road, approximately 2 miles (3 km) east of Derry's downtown.
