"Run Boy Run" is a song by Yoann Lemoine, under his stage name Woodkid. It was released as the second single from his debut studio album, The Golden Age (2013). It was written by Lemoine and Ambroise Willaume from the French band Revolver. The single was released on 21 May 2012, becoming his highest-charting single.
The song, covered by an unknown female artist, was used in a commercial entitled The Notebook for a South African insurance company. [5] It is also used as background music in the Dauntless club scene in the 2014 movie Divergent. The song was also in a movie series of "Tatort", a German TV-programme, called "Freddy tanzt" (Freddy dances). [6]
He also stated that "Lemoine's music is more in line with Antony & the Johnsons-- lavish, often torchy songs that pair dramatic backdrops with his charmingly imperfect vocals", and, despite the fact that it is an "at times exhausting album, The Golden Age shows Lemoine is skilled at making music as well as music videos."
In 2014, Woodkid / Lemoine worked as creative director for Pharrell Williams' 24 Hours of Happy music video concept, seen more than 600 million times on YouTube. The song gained popularity after being used in a trailer for Assassin's Creed: Revelations. It was also sampled in Kendrick Lamar's "The Spiteful Chant" on his 2011 album section.80.
