The 2015–16 season will be Alloa Athletic's third consecutive season back in the second tier of Scottish football and their third season in the Scottish Championship, [1] having been promoted through playoffs from the Scottish Second Division at the end of the 2012–13 season.
Formed as Alloa in 1880, the football club shortly changed its name to Alloa Association, and then to Alloa Athletic in 1881. [1] In 1883 the club was admitted to the Scottish Football Association but had to wait until 1921 before being elected to the Scottish Football League .
Historically, this section of Archer was a part of Illinois Route 4, the original 1924 highway connecting St. Louis and Chicago. [4] In 1926, Route 4 was rerouted to the north side of the Des Plaines River on an alignment that subsequently became U.S. Route 66, and its former route on Archer was redesignated as Illinois Route 4A. [5]
Alloa Athletic Football Club is a Scottish association football semi-professional club based in the town of Alloa, Clackmannanshire. According to the official club history, they were formed as Clackmannan County in 1878, the football club shortly changing its name to Alloa Association and then to Alloa Athletic in 1883.
In 1965, the Illinois General Assembly named the area after William W. Powers. [1] Powers had been a Chicago alderman on the Chicago City Council and Illinois General Assembly legislator in the 1920s, and used the site for picnics to feed the needy during the Great Depression. [3] The park also has a military history.
