Churchdown is a large village in Gloucestershire, England, situated between Gloucester and Cheltenham in the south of the Tewkesbury Borough. The village has two centres. The older (Brookfield or "village") centre is in Church Road near St Andrew's Church; the more modern centre is in St John's Avenue near St John's Church. [ 1 ]
Chosen Hill (grid reference) (or Churchdown Hill) rises above Churchdown [1] in Gloucestershire, England, and is the site of a 11.5-hectare (28-acre) nature reserve. [2]The hill commands good views over the scarp and the Severn Vale and there is a network of paths for walkers.
The permanent station at Churchdown was opened on 2 February 1874, and was the joint property of the Midland Railway (successor to the B&G) and the Great Western Railway, [2] [6] who had shared the line since 1847. [7]
Previously a foundation school administered by Gloucestershire County Council, Churchdown School was converted to academy status on 1 November 2011 and was renamed Churchdown School Academy. However the school continues to coordinate with Gloucestershire County Council for admissions.
