When founded, St. Anthony primarily served Milwaukee's African-American population and was co-founded by Wisconsin's first Black physician, Dr. Allen Herron. [1] In 1954, Dr. John W. Saint Vincent's Infant Asylum was built as a Catholic institution for unwanted infants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The first section of the building was constructed in 1878 in High Victorian Gothic style, with similar additions following. Ever since, the building has housed various social service programs. [2]
