Basically, the calculated Synthroid dose is the average of four different equations. One is a calculated regression equation, another is a simplified version of that same equation, another is based on weight, and another is based on lean body mass (height, weight, and gender). I think most endocrinologists base the Synthroid dose on weight and ...
DebDG Feb 18, 2024 • 2:23 PM. Yes. Bring this up with your doctor. Too high of a dose can have adverse effects on the heart and bones. Your doc will monitor you with bloodwork, but if you just started and feel hyper they might want to lower it a bit. On the other hand, we usually keep our TSH suppressed or on the low side after thyroid cancer ...
Become a member. pvs58 Jul 2, 2020 • 10:46 AM. A dosage of 75 mcg of Levothyroxine is a low dose. It's high doses that create hyperthyroid levels, not low doses. High doses raise Free-T4 and maybe Free-T3. They lower TSH,. TSH stimulates any cancer so low TSH is preferable. 75 mcg is usually the lowest dosage given to people, after a ...
BionicLegs. Feb 20, 2014 • 4:28 PM. Wondering how high a dose of levothyroxine is considered a maximum dose. The literature says 200 mcg, but my Endo has increased my dose to 250. I've gone from 150 to 250 in 25 mcg increments, about every 30 days. I'll feel better for a few days, and then slammed again, sleeping absurd amounts, and ready to ...
Might want to ask your endo about potentially adding Cytomel T3 to help lower TSH. Also, be sure that you are on brand specific Synthroid and not generics. FYI, usually the calculation for Synthroid dosage is 1.6-1.7 mcg/kg body weight. Hope this helps. 0 Reactions. eagle_wings2014 Dec 12, 2014 • 4:42 AM.
TopOver U - I found a dose of 1.7 mcg/kg/day on the American Thyroid Assoc. website which works out to 88.8 mcg for 115# (good guess on the weight) so 100 mcg splits the difference between these two doses.
cabro Feb 14, 2019 • 7:35 PM. No problem. Just take it whenever you wake up. It is a long term storage hormone with a half life of 8 days, so a few hours either way every day does not have any negative effect. Just take it with a full glass of water and wait an hour to eat. 5 Reactions.
Now that your thyroid is removed, your hormones are running out and quick. The 175 will give you a good quick boost back to where you need to be, and it will begin getting your TSH into the hyper-suppressed zone, which is where you need to be. The goal is generally to be under a TSH of 1, give or take.
Four weeks later on Nov 15 my TSH was 6.4 (as expected, a bit high as my body was adjusting to less meds). However, staying on 50 mcg my next blood test 2 weeks later showed TSH at 3.2 and then again two weeks later TSH is down to 2.1. So in the course of 30 days I went from 6.4 to 2.1 on the same dose o 50 mcg Levothyroxine.
