Nov 5, 2018. #3. It's not going to hurt anything, but I don't know what it would provide your car with that a quality high mileage oil wouldn't. VOAs run on STP show that it's nothing more than a thickener with little-to-no additives. If you'd like, just step up to a 5W-30 high mileage oil in your favorite brand and you'd be just fine.
Feb 22, 2021. #1. The "ceramic" trend is snaking over from detailing products into the lubing section. Wonder how it compares to Ceratec. About $12.99, advertised for 15k miles, stays in the engine even after an oil change. Metal can is kinda nice.
STP Oil Treatment. March 5, 2020, 04:55 AM. Ever since I was a teen my pops taught me to add a bottle of STP oil treatment with every oil change. Been doing it ever since (40+ years) even though with modern oils its probably not needed. Anyway, I was changing the oil in my Silverado last week and while adding the STP product I noticed some ...
Sep 23, 2013. #1. Just got back from my local autozone. They have the blue bottles of stp oil additive, with zinc zddp as advertised for lesser wear, and a high mileage one, advertising for cars over 75,000 also with zinc. How much zinc is in this stuff? and is it worth it? $3.99 a bottle, says to add too every 4-5 quarts of oil.
Details: Valvoline conventional oil used at 2000 mile intervals. Motorcraft filters always used. STP oil additive used every oil change. Engine was a 5.0 liter pushrod design. Car was a 1993 Ford Mustang. Mileage on engine at time of replacement - 315,000. My neighbor was the original owner.

No, you should not use Engine Oil Supplement with Zinc Treatment in 2005 and newer gasoline and 2007 and later diesel engines. Current oils have enough Zinc to protect moving parts inside newer engines. However, to help prevent sludge and keep that engine clean, it is recommended to use Rislone Engine Treatment p/n 100QR or 4102 on all newer ...
Now I know many, probably most of you have no use for Stp oil treatment. But I still would like to know if I were to put one 15 oz bottle in 4 quarts of 10w30 conventional or semi synthetic oil, what would the equivalent viscosity of the mix be. Approximately, not precisely. Would it be like a...
So yeah, STP oil treatment is diluting your additives. If you look at zinc for example, it has 569ppm. One table spoon of STP has 569 ppm, so would a 55 gallon drum of the same material. PPM is a concentration. So, since PYB has 868ppm of zinc, you are going to dilute it out by adding a pint of STP which only has 569ppm of zinc.
Jan 31, 2014. #3. STP Oil Treatment is way old skool (like me). I didn't even think they made it anymore. I think I have a pile of STP stickers someplace. I remember when I was a kid working in my Dad's shop. I was goofing around one day when I put a drop of STP into a container of Berryman B-12.....the STP balled up and turned into a hard ...
