Shamrock Township is one of thirty-seven townships in Holt County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 40 at the 2020 census . [ 1 ] A 2021 estimate placed the township's population at 40.
Its county seat is O'Neill. [2] Holt County is in the Outback area of Nebraska. [3] In the Nebraska license plate system, Holt County is represented by the prefix 36 (it had the 36th-largest number of vehicles registered in the county when the license plate system was established in 1922).

After a downturn in the market and changes in the livestock industry, the Union Stock Yards Company of Omaha lost value through the 1960s. In 1973 the Union Stock Yards Company of Omaha was sold to the Canal Capital Corporation of New York. In 1999 the Union Stockyards were closed by the City of Omaha, and replaced with a business park.
