The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro is an American pony car introduced by Chevrolet in the fall of 1966 for the 1967 model year. It used a brand-new rear-wheel-drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, hardtop , and convertible .
Produced as a separate trim level, the Citation X-11 was a variant featuring cosmetic, chassis, and powertrain upgrades over the standard Citation. While less powerful than the Camaro Z28 (and later Monte Carlo SS), the Citation X-11 would also take over the role of the similarly sized Chevrolet Monza.
The Chevrolet Camaro was released in 1967, three years after the Ford Mustang. In its first year, the Camaro could be ordered with RPO Z/28, which included a small block-series 302 cubic inch motor with 11.0:1 compression. For the 1970 model year the Z/28 engine was changed to the 350 cubic inch LT-1.
Models for 2014-2015 include the SS variants in SC582 and SC562 trim (manual and automatic), along with the Z/28-based Callaway SC652 Camaro. The Callaway SC652 Z/28 Camaro represented the most powerful of all Callaway Camaros to date. In 2016, the Callaway SC630 Camaro was introduced based on the Camaro SS.
