At that time he made a feasibility study of a Bering Strait bridge and estimated the cost to be $1 billion for the 80 km (50 mi) span. [12] In 1994 he updated the cost to more than $4 billion. Like Gilpin, Lin envisioned the project as a symbol of international cooperation and unity, and dubbed the project the Intercontinental Peace Bridge. [13]
Chacao Channel bridge map. It's a construction project for a bridge that will cross the Chacao Channel. It is intended to unite the Isla Grande de Chiloé with the Chilean continental territory, in the Los Lagos Region. The opening of the bridge is planned for 2025. [97] [98] [99] It will be the longest suspension bridge in Latin America. [100]
Peace Bridge from Fort Erie, with new lighting retrofit. The building of the Peace Bridge was approved by the International Joint Commission on August 6, 1925. Edward Lupfer served as chief engineer. [2] A major obstacle to building the bridge was the swift river current, which averages 7.5 to 12 miles per hour (12.1 to 19.3 km/h).
The route follows a northwest then northward course from Dawson Creek to Fort Nelson. On October 16, 1957, a suspension bridge crossing the Peace River just south of Fort St. John collapsed. A new bridge was built a few years later. At Fort Nelson, the road turns west and crosses the Rocky Mountains, before resuming a westward course at Coal River.
When Lin received the National Medal of Science from President Ronald Reagan in 1986, he handed over a 16-page plan for a 50-mile (80-kilometre) bridge linking Alaska and Siberia across the Bering Strait, a project he dubbed the Intercontinental Peace Bridge.

The bridge has been proposed a few times. One of the proposals used the name "Intercontinental Peace Bridge", to promote it, but I don't think that is the best name for us to use for the proposed bridge. I will change the name one week from now if no objection. A link from "Intercontinental Peace Bridge" will be kept.
The document also proposed a bridge to Asia across the Bering Strait, a concept that has been dubbed the Intercontinental Peace Bridge, which would have been, and still would be, an enormously important link between the Eurasia-Africa and the Americas.
