Hanover Township is one of thirteen townships Butler County, Ohio, United States. It is located in the west-central part of the county, midway between Hamilton and Oxford. The population of the township was 8,111 at the 2020 census. It is named for Hanover County, Virginia, where the early settlers originated. [citation needed]

Hanover Township began as a part of Richland County in 1806. Hanover Township was organized in 1818. [4] It was separated to become a part of Ashland County upon its formation in 1846. Statewide, other Hanover Townships are located in Butler, Columbiana, and Licking counties.
