Sonic Forces [b] is a 2017 platform game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It was produced in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The plot focuses on Sonic the Hedgehog joining a resistance movement formed by his friends, alongside its rookie and his misplaced past self.
The game was a major success, and started the long-running Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The next several games were developed by Naka and Yasuhara in America at Sega Technical Institute . In late 1994, Naka returned to Japan to become the head of CS3, later renamed R&D #8.
A mobile tie-in to Sonic Forces, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, was released in 2017. It features similar gameplay to Sonic Dash, but is based on competitive online multiplayer. Within its first five days of release, Sonic Forces: Speed Battle had been downloaded 1.3 million times, [14] and reached 2 million downloads within its first two weeks. [42]
