Bear Mountain, formerly known as the Moonridge Ski Area (1943–1969), Goldmine Mountain (1970–1987), and Big Bear Mountain (1988–2001) is a ski area originally established in 1941 in the San Bernardino National Forest in Southern California, United States.
Big Bear Mountain is a 5,641-foot (1,719 m) summit located at the western edge of the North Cascades, in Snohomish County of Washington state. [3] It is located midway between Three Fingers to its north, and Liberty Mountain to its south.

Snow Summit is a ski resort that was established in 1952 and is in the San Bernardino Mountains in Southern California. [2] It is located by Big Bear Lake along with its sister resort Bear Mountain; these two resorts which operate under the same management are collectively known as Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR).
Big Bear Mountain Resort, which operates the Snow Summit, Bear Mountain and Snow Valley resorts, reported this week that it's the snowiest February on the mountain since at least 2000.
In addition, there are several mid-sized to large towns in the mountains themselves, including Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, Crestline, Lake Arrowhead and Running Springs. [8] Cities within the San Bernardino Mountains total a population of about 44,000, with this number sometimes increasing tenfold during peak tourist season. [12]
Elevations range from 2,000 to 11,499 feet (600 to 3505 m). The forest includes seven wilderness areas: [2] San Gorgonio, Cucamonga, San Jacinto, South Fork, Santa Rosa, Cahuilla Mountain and Bighorn Mountain. Forest headquarters are located in the city of San Bernardino. There are district offices in Lytle Creek, Idyllwild, and Fawnskin.
Big Bear Discovery Center is a regional visitor center and nature center, located in the Big Bear Valley of the San Bernardino Mountains, and within the San Bernardino National Forest, in San Bernardino County, southern California. [1] [2] It is in the Mountaintop Ranger District Office complex of the National Forest. [3]
