The Ware County School District is a public school district in Ware County, Georgia, United States, based in Waycross. It serves the communities of Deenwood , Dixie Union , Manor , Millwood , Ruskin , Sunnyside , Waresboro , and Waycross.
Ware County High School was formed in 1958 by the merging of Waresboro High School and Wacona High Schools. Expansion occurred in 1993 when the Waycross City Schools dropped their charter and Waycross High was absorbed by Ware County Senior High. In 1994, the doors were opened to a new high school in Ware County.

Waycross High School was a high school in the city of Waycross, Georgia, United States. In 1993, the Waycross School Board dissolved its charter and was absorbed by the Ware County School System. [1] As a result, Ware County was able to keep a large grant it had been promised, with which to build a much bigger Ware County Senior High school.
The Emma Maddox Building of the current Ware Shoals Middle School was named in her honor, in recognition of her contributions to the educational, spiritual and civic lives of African Americans in the greater Ware Shoal's area. When public schools were integrated in 1969, Emma Maddox School became the middle school for all students in the community.
