The Boat (French: Le Bateau) is a paper-cut from 1953 by Henri Matisse. The picture is composed from pieces of paper cut out of sheets painted with gouache , and was created during the last years of Matisse's life.
The painting was created with short, thick brushstrokes, typical of Impressionism. [ 1 ] Monet painted The Beach at Honfleur in the summer of 1864, when he and Frédéric Bazille were staying at nearby Sainte-Adresse , where Monet's parents kept a summer house. [ 1 ]
