Fayette County (/ ˈ f eɪ. ə t / FAY-ət) is a county located in the north central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 119,194, an increase from 106,567 in 2010. [2] [1] Fayette County was established in 1821. The county seat, Fayetteville, was established in 1823.
