Irish inventions and discoveries are objects, processes or techniques which owe their existence either partially or entirely to an Irish person. Recorded Irish history begins with the introduction of Christianity and Latin literacy, beginning in the 5th century or possibly slightly before. When compared to neighbouring Insular societies, early Christian Ireland is well documented, at least for later periods, but these sources are not easy to interpret.
