Bishop John Joseph Hogan (May 10, 1829 – February 21, 1913) was an Irish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Saint Joseph in Missouri (1868 to 1880) and the first bishop of the Diocese of Kansas City in Missouri (1880 to 1913).
In 1875, he was made coadjutor bishop of St. Paul and in 1884 he became bishop ordinary. [3] In 1888 he became archbishop with the elevation of his diocese and the erection of the ecclesiastical province of Saint Paul. [7] Ireland retained this title for 30 years until his death in 1918. Before Ireland died he burned all his personal papers. [8]
