The downhill marathon and half-marathon on Mount Lemmon was initiated by the Revel Racing Series in November, 2017. The race attracted a moderate number of participants during its three years of operation. In 2017, there were 276 finishers in the full marathon and 429 finishers in the half marathon.

The World SJJIF Jiu-Jitsu Championship counts at least 2500 competitors each year including more than 100 black belts. [ 9 ] 72 countries were represented at the 2018 SJJIF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in front of 7,000 spectators over the 3 days of competition, [ 10 ] while in 2017, 54 nationalities were represented.
