The stadium is called Achter de Kazerne, which means "Behind the Army Barracks". It is called this because the stadium was once located behind an army base.

The convent was burnt down in 1572, during the Spanish Fury at Mechelen, [1] and the community was temporarily disbanded in 1578 but was refounded within the city walls of Mechelen in 1585.
