The Derby Stakes, also known as the Derby or the Epsom Derby, is a Group 1 flat horse race in England open to three-year-old colts and fillies. It is run at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey on the first Saturday of June each year, over a distance of one mile, four furlongs and 10 yards (2,423 metres), or about 1½ miles. [ 1 ]

She was bred to Orme and foaled the Epsom and Irish Derby winner Orby in 1904. Orby sired the 1919 Epsom Derby winner Grand Parade (out of Grand Geraldine) in 1916. [11] Margerique (foaled 1893) was sired by imported Order and produced the 1901 Champion two-year-old colt Nasturtium with Watercress.

The 1984 Epsom Derby was the 205th annual running of the Derby horse race. It took place at Epsom Downs Racecourse on 6 June 1984. It was the first edition of the race to be commercially sponsored and was known as the Ever Ready Derby. The sponsorship meant that the first prize of £227,680 was the biggest in the history of the race.
