The oldest trail in the Republic of Ireland is the Wicklow Way, which was opened in 1980, and there are now over 4,000 kilometres (2,500 miles) of waymarked trails in the Republic alone. [3] The most frequented trails are the Wicklow, Sheep's Head, Kerry, Dingle, Beara, Burren and Western Ways. [4]
Ireland ratified the convention on 16 September 1991. [3] As of 2025, Ireland has two sites on the list, and a further three on the tentative list.
