The Big Sandy Milling Company, in Louisa, Kentucky was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. [1] It has also been known as the Louisa Supply Company, the Louisa Flour & Feed Co., and as Louisa Milling Company. [2] It was located on Pike St. between Lock Ave. and railroad tracks. [1]
An 1856 map still shows the river under the name "Louisa." Virginia , Carolina and other English colonial-linked settlement attempts began as early as 1790 but did not take hold until 1818. Louisa became the county seat in 1822 and a city in 1823.

Lawrence County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky.As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,293. [1] Its county seat is Louisa. [2] The county is named for James Lawrence, [3] and co-founded by Isaac Bolt, who served as a Lawrence County Commissioner and Justice of the Peace.
