Murrells Inlet Historic District is a national historic district located at Murrells Inlet, Georgetown County, South Carolina.The district encompasses 37 contributing buildings and contains a significant concentration of buildings that visually reflect the transition of the area from adjoining estates of two 19th-century rice planters into a 20th-century resort community.
Murrells Inlet is located in northeastern Georgetown County at (33.551593, -79.04879 The northern edge of the CDP follows the Horry County line. U.S. Route 17 (Ocean Highway) runs through the center of the community, leading northeast 13 miles (21 km) to Myrtle Beach and southwest 21 miles (34 km) to Georgetown, the seat of Georgetown County.

South Carolina Highway 544 (SC 544) is a 13.710-mile (22.064 km) major four-lane state highway in Horry County, South Carolina. It connects the Surfside Beach and Conway areas. The highway in places and its former alignment in the Socastee area are called Dick Pond Road ; Dick Pond is a water feature near its east end.
The Atlantic coastline, also called Waccamaw Neck, including the communities of Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, Pawleys Island and DeBordieu, is part of "The Grand Strand" (beach), which includes Myrtle Beach to the north. The Georgetown County part of the Grand Strand used to be rural area, but is exploding with development today.
