Besh-Ba-Gowah is a 200-room prehistoric Salado masonry pueblo located atop a broad ridge overlooking Pinal Creek. Globe is in southern Gila County at (33.399858, −110.781570), [6] in the valley of Pinal Creek, a north-flowing tributary of the Salt U.S. Route 60 passes through the city, leading northeast through the Fort Apache Indian Reservation 87 miles (140 km) to Show Low, and west 87 miles (140 km) to Phoenix.

The presence of terra cotta exemplifies the economic prominence of Globe during the early 20th century as a mining and ranching center. Comparable facades were not in existence in Arizona until the late 1910s. The building is also the only Neoclassical structure in Globe, locally considered to be "outstanding".
