The bridge is maintained by the California Department of Transportation as part of State Route 275 and connects West Capitol Avenue and Cabaldon Parkway (formerly Tower Bridge Gateway) in West Sacramento with the Capitol Mall in Sacramento. In 1982, the Tower Bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places. [3]

Tower Bridge (California) This is a list of the crossings of the Sacramento River from its mouth at Suisun Bay upstream to the Ribbon Bridge in Redding. There are many more bridges north of this point up to Lake Siskiyou, immediately east of the source of the river at the confluence of the South and Middle Forks of the Sacramento River.
The current status of this bridge is vehicle and pedestrian traffic only. I am unsure if the bridge carried a trolley service (small) or full blown trains in the past. Currently, I doubt that full blown trains were utilized and smaller trolleys were potentially used, like the rest of Sacramento back in the 1920s.
