Faku joined the National Youth Development Agency in 2010 when the organisation merged with the Umsobomvu Youth Fund. She held multiple leadership positions in the agency, including the positions of senior business development officer and manager for eight out of the nine district offices the agency has in the Eastern Cape.
The Umsobomvu Local Municipality council consists of thirteen members elected by mixed-member proportional representation.Seven councillors are elected by first-past-the-post voting in seven wards, while the remaining six are chosen from party lists so that the total number of party representatives is proportional to the number of votes received.
