Jun 12, 2021. #8. The Sam Ash in Atlanta is so low on inventory, at least for guitars/basses, that they have removed most of the empty hangers from the slat board walls. But employees indicated the lack of inventory was due to pandemic related issues.
I head to Sam Ash in King of Prussia, a store that was originally marked for closing and clearly not much to be had there. What I did pickup was this, a Hartke HD508 for $468 (a win) and 3 packs of strings. When I get to the counter and get rung up, I present my Sam Ash credit card.
I was in the Sam Ash in NYC about 6-7 years ago and was looking at the basses and started talking to a guy with a white T-shirt and a black leather vest on, he looked familiar, but didn’t give it a second thought at the time. He told me a great story about the Thumb (in the display case) that Jack signed and sent to him.
Alert, there is a company that is claiming it is selling guitars at 90% off as the Sam Ash going out of business sale. They are running ads on Facebook. It's a scam. These are so common that I wonder why Zuck isn't indicted on conspiracy / theft charges. One of so many dozens going the rounds now is Merrill hiking boots for $20 or so.

I dated a girl that I met at Sam Ash NYC store in my mid 20's. Short duration but sweet. She was trying one of those Takamines, I was buying strings. I had an Eminence Alnico loaded guitar 212 cab that was Sam Ash branded. It sounded really good - better than the Fenders it copied. .
I've given Cinci Sam Ash some business here and there, with the largest purchase being a really nice L2500 Tribute. I later traded that same bass plus a cab back to them in exchange for a pristine EA rig. I may keep an eye on the situation and look for potential deals as they wind things down.
So, he spent $45,000.00 (in 1981 money) to completely section off the repair portion of the store. This included new bathrooms (male and female) and a separate entrance. Modifications made, they got their approval. Three years later, Sam Ash opens a store about a mile down the road.

There were employees and even some people in it, but it still nothing like what it was when it was Thoroughbred Music, and right after Sam Ash bought them out. I was wondering if that old Thoroughbred store was still around.
