Because the most recent version of optifine available is for 47.1.43 and that's a review version, so no you cannot use optifine and forge for any version of forge after 47.1.43 and even if you do downgrade your forge to accommodate, some 1.20.1 mods are incompatible with it, i found that out trying forge 47.0.35 most good 1.20.1 mods like aether and twilight forest need 47.1 or higher to work ...
1.20.1 crashing, optifine is compatible with current version of forge, however still has problems.
That's false, it's just that Optifine just came out for 1.20.1, so ofc can expect to have some issues. That, is, in fact, true, 1.20.1 doesn't have to do anything with it. OptiFine is not suited for modded environments after 1.12.2, unless you SPECIFICALLY make your modpack around OptiFine.
It sounds like you're trying to run Optifine 1.20.1 on the 1.20.2 client Reply reply aka_nyx • Yeah I ...
The only thing that optifine is better is pbr texture packs and custom entities. In most cases iris + sodium is better option. pretty sure there's mods on fabric that achieve those same features. Iris had PBR support for months now + Entity Model Features adds support for Custom Entity Models. I tested it and it works in many texture packs but ...
Lawfulness_Ecstatic. optifine not working on 1.20.1. has anyone found a fix for optifine not working on custom modpacks for 1.20.1 yet? no matter what i do i cannot get it to work! its weird because lots of the most popular modpacks rn are on 1.20.1 and have working optifine :/. it constantly crashes when loading but the shaderpacks folder is ...
Maybe there just won’t be a release for 1.20.2. not every update gets an optifine version and the difference between 1.20.1 and .2 is really not that much that most people will care. Then install fabric with sodium and iris (maybe also indium and continuity if you want connected textures) and you can use shaders today.
It's actively being worked on and is 85% complete, it would likely be easier to update from a completed 1.20.2 than starting over again from 1.20.1 to make the 1.20.4, which may be next since sometimes sp614x has skipped middle updates when a new one is out before the last one was finished. That said, Optifine has a lot of features, which means ...
for optifine parity, the fabulously optimized and additive modpacks are great. for just performance, go with adrenaline. the fabric wiki has its own optifine parity list. you don't need starlight anymore with 1.20. you may not want distant horizons. you may also like to try nvidium, but it disables itself when shaders are present.
