Ocmulgee (/ oʊ k ˈ m ʌ l ɡ iː /) is a memorial to ancient indigenous peoples in Southeastern North America. The name comes from the Mikasuki Oki Molki , meaning 'Bubbling Water'. [ 6 ] From Ice Age hunters to the Muscogee Creek tribe of historic times, the site has evidence of 12,000 years of human habitation.
This 52-acre (210,000 m 2) area contains preserved petroglyphs of ancient Native American origin that resemble animal and bird tracks, crosses, circles and human footprints.
