The original Mayville High School was built around 1850 as a one-room schoolhouse that housed all grades. [4] The current building was built in 1964. [5] After a failed 2015 referendum, [5] a 2017 referendum to add a STEAM addition to the school passed; construction began in April 2018. [6]
Immanuel Lutheran School was founded in 1855 and is one of the oldest continually operating elementary schools in the state of Wisconsin. In the 2013–2014 school year, Immanuel's Kindergarten class scored higher than 99% of schools in the nation on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 919 people, 295 households, and 243 families residing in the town. The population density was 28.4 people per square mile (11.0/km 2).
