Raritan is a borough in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 7,835, [9] [10] its highest decennial census count ever and an increase of 954 (+13.9%) from the 2010 census count of 6,881, [19] [20] which in turn had reflected an increase of 543 (+8.6%) from the 6,338 counted at the 2000 census.

The Raritan Public Library, founded June, 1961, was initially located in the Relief Home Company No. 2 Engine House. In 1975, Peter Frelinghuysen, Jr. donated the family homestead, the General John Frelinghuysen House, to the borough for use as the library.

Relief Hose Company No. 2 Engine House is a two-story brick firehouse with a three-story tower located at 16 Anderson Street in the borough of Raritan in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. The firehouse was built in 1894 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 14, 2000 for its significance in architecture. [ 3 ]
