Temitope Balogun Joshua (12 June 1963 – 5 June 2021) was a Nigerian charismatic pastor and televangelist.He was the leader and founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), [2] a Christian megachurch that runs the Emmanuel TV television station from Lagos, Nigeria.
According to Premium Times, in the 1990s he ran a series on 'Nkan Mbe' where he spoke to several former backroom staff and members of TB Joshua's SCOAN, "who revealed all manners of alleged atrocities, including occultism at the church." [3] Different views have been expressed concerning the real cause of Olawuyi's death.
T. B. Joshua wrote that in a heavenly vision he received 'divine anointing' and a covenant from God to start his ministry in 1987. [6] The church started with eight members, but has since become one of Nigeria's most influential churches, attracting over 50,000 people [2] to its weekly Sunday services at the headquarters in Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos.
There are several claims of people receiving miraculous 'healing' through these prayers, [11] [12] including popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh who said Joshua's prayers ended her 14-year smoking addiction.
